However, when newcomers are supported by peers, or have programs and networks in place they have far greater success and achieve optimal settlement and positive outcomes in life.As part of an effort to improve the challenges facing newcomers, Detroit African Youth Development Organization gives immigrants access to the resources, guidance, education, and trusted connections needed to thrive. This organization was also created to foster inclusion so that no newcomer feels alone and has access to support every step of the way on the journey to settlement. The creation of vibrant communities for African immigrants in the US is of paramount and at the nexus of their successful integration and the realization of their American Dream. The organization will promote social entrepreneurship and other income generating activities among youth and women individually or in-group. Limited access to financial services being the most impeding cause to youth and immigrant women’s entrepreneurship, the organization will help with advisory services to facilitate their  access to finance and will promote smart rotating saving funds (traditional rotating saving groups based on trust). Furthermore, the organization will focus on skills development to equip youth and women with vocational and apprenticeship skills to enable them to engage in an industry business.  To ensure successful development for the new entrepreneurs, the organization will set accompanying measures and education in professional and business development, such literacy in basic accounting, financial planning, and business management, etc.
